In the Alcorn School District, we recognize that education is about more than academics—it's about nurturing the whole child. We are committed to equipping every student with the social-emotional and character development skills they need to thrive as confident, compassionate, and capable individuals. This commitment is not driven by state mandates but by our belief that addressing the social-emotional needs of our students is vital to their success as college and career ready citizens.

To support this vision, we proudly implement "Capturing Kids' Hearts" for grades PreK-6th and "2Words" for grades 7th-12th. These programs explicitly teach character development lessons that inspire our students to build healthy relationships, develop leadership skills, and make positive life choices.

Additionally, we utilize Capturing Kids' Hearts culture-setting actions to create a relationship-based community inclusive of all students and staff within each of our ASD schools and all grade levels PK-12.

By prioritizing social-emotional learning, we aim to create a safe, positive, and excellence-driven culture that empowers our students to become lifelong learners and leaders in their communities. Together, with the support of our families and stakeholders, we are shaping the future—one heart at a time. This is the Heart of the ASD.
