The Alcorn School District is hosting our first annual Third Grade Literacy Night, and all incoming third grade students along with their parents are strongly encouraged to attend. This come and go information session will be held on Monday, July 17th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Northeast - Corinth Campus.
Not only will parents be receiving 4-6 free books for their children, this will be a great opportunity to find out more information about the 3rd Grade Reading Gate and the Literacy Based Promotion Act. Copies of reading and math standards listing what skills will be taught and assessed this year will be available for parents to pick up, and they will get a sneak peak at what books will be used in the reading and math classrooms.
Administrators, teachers, interventionists, and school counselors will be on hand to provide various types of information and answer any questions parents and students might have. Personnel from the Corinth Public Library will also be on hand to provide library cards to anyone who would like to register for one.
Tables will be set up for students to join in and participate in fun activities while parents visit information booths set up throughout the area. We are so excited to offer this opportunity for our parents and students and look forward to seeing you all on Monday night. It's going to be a great year for the ASD!
