Biggersville High School and Alcorn Central Middle School earned their first ever A on state standardized testing for the 2023-24 school year as the Alcorn School District earned a top A rating in state school accountability results released Tuesday by the Mississippi Department of Education.
“It’s something we’re proud of,” Biggersville High School principal Sam Roberts said. “It’s a great school. It’s the diamond of Alcorn County and its best kept secret. I am very pleased with where I’m at and the school I’m blessed to be a part of. This happens with hard work and dedication of the students, first of all, the teachers, and the overwhelming support of parents.”
Biggersville and ACMS joined four other ASD schools in scoring the state’s highest marks on the tests that concluded the academic year in May.
“We are extremely proud of our staff, students and parents at ACMS,” Alcorn Central Middle School principal Travis Smith said. “Believing you can build relationships and grow students academically is something we have stressed at ACMS. We will continue to do both moving forward
and are thankful for the support of the ASD and our community as we strive to be a little better every day.”
Both schools earned a B in the previous academic year.
Alcorn Central Elementary was one of three schools statewide to make the leap from a C to an A rating.
Six of the eight Alcorn School District campuses scored an A on state standardized testing for the 2023-24 school year. The district earned a cumulative A for the fourth year in a row.
