Raptor Management System

Dear Alcorn School District Community,

We are excited to announce that the Alcorn School District is implementing the Raptor Visitor Management System across all our campuses as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors.

What is the Raptor Visitor Management System?

The Raptor system is a state-of-the-art security measure designed to keep our schools safe by screening all visitors, volunteers, and contractors who enter the building. The system provides an extra layer of protection by instantly checking each visitor’s identification against a national database of registered sex offenders. This allows us to ensure that no unauthorized or potentially dangerous individuals are permitted to enter school areas. We will also be configured to screen for other alerts, including custom watchlists set by the district, such as banned individuals, custody issues, or flagged persons related to legal matters or district-specific safety concerns.

How It Works:

Visitor Check-In:

When visitors arrive on campus, they will be required to check in at a designated kiosk. Each visitor will scan their government-issued ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport), and the Raptor system will quickly screen the information.

Visitor Badge:

Once approved, the system will print a visitor badge with the individual’s photo, name, and the reason for their visit. This badge must be worn visibly during their time on campus.

Security Alerts:

If a visitor’s background check raises any concerns, the system will immediately alert the school Resource Officers and school administrators, and appropriate actions will be taken.

Who Needs to Check In?

The Raptor system is designed for all visitors who need access to non-public areas of the school, such as classrooms, libraries, or other secure locations. This includes parents attending meetings, volunteers assisting with school events, contractors working on campus, and guest speakers.

Please note that this system is not required for brief visits to the office for tasks such as student check-ins or check-outs or dropping off materials. These quick visits can be handled directly by office staff.

Why is This Important?

The safety of our students is our top priority. The Raptor system helps us manage who is on campus, ensures a secure environment, and provides our staff and families with peace of mind. By implementing this system, we are taking proactive steps to prevent potential threats from entering our schools.

Respecting Privacy and Security

We understand that some community members may have questions about how their information is used. Rest assured, the Raptor system stores all personal data securely and complies with federal and state privacy regulations. Visitor information is only used for security purposes, and no data will be shared outside the system.

Our Commitment to Safety

The Alcorn School District is committed to creating a secure, welcoming environment for everyone. The Raptor Visitor Management System is just one of the many ways we are enhancing our safety protocols to better protect our students, staff, and visitors.
