In a day filled with inspiration and celebration, six exceptional students from the Alcorn School District (ASD) attended the inaugural Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) Presidential Leadership Luncheon. This special event, held to honor student leaders in the community, highlighted the potential and promise of young leaders.
The ASD students, selected by their career coaches and counselors, were chosen for their outstanding leadership skills and the positive influence they have on their peers. Representing ASD at the luncheon were:
Nathan Williams (ACHS)
Julia Davis (ACHS)
McKinsey Coleman (BHS)
Garrett Ellsworth (BHS)
Riley Mullins (KHS)
Caliann Mitchell (KHS)
The luncheon not only provided the students with an opportunity to explore leadership development at NEMCC but also delivered an unforgettable surprise. During the event, NEMCC announced that every student in attendance would receive a Presidential Full Tuition Leadership Scholarship, underscoring the college’s commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders.
Adding to the pride of the day, Kossuth High School alumna Bailey Wilbanks served as a panelist, sharing insights as a current NEMCC student leader. Her presence demonstrated the enduring connection between ASD graduates and the opportunities at NEMCC.
This event marks a significant milestone for these ASD students and showcases both the Alcorn School District's and Northeast Mississippi Community College's dedication to fostering leadership and student success. Congratulations to these remarkable young men and women on this incredible achievement!
