HS FBLA

HATTIESBURG, MS – The Alcorn School District is celebrating a remarkable achievement as students from two of its high schools, Alcorn Central High School (ACHS) and Kossuth High School (KHS), demonstrated excellence at the Mississippi Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference. Held at the University of Southern Mississippi, the conference showcased the talent, dedication, and leadership of students from across the state, with Alcorn School District students securing multiple top-five finishes and an impressive 27 national qualifications.

National Qualifiers & State Champions

A total of 27 students from our district earned the opportunity to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Anaheim, California, this June by placing in the top four of their respective events. Among the notable achievements:

First Place – State Champions & National Qualifiers

  • Sydney Slaughter (ACHS) – Business Ethics

  • Carter Wilbanks (KHS) – Introduction to IT (Back-to-Back Champion)

  • Jaden Hodge, Alex Houston, Lydia Stewart, Chelsey Thrasher, Graham Bradley (KHS) – Parliamentary Procedures

Second Place – National Qualifiers

  • Liam Saenz (ACHS) – Introduction to IT

  • Nellie Johnson, Kalee Mayo, Emma Mathis (KHS) – Social Media Strategies

Third Place – National Qualifiers

  • Ansley Corbin & Ella Lacy (ACHS) – Entrepreneurship

  • Alice Brose & Lindsay Stevens (ACHS) – Sports & Entertainment Management

  • Luke Baswell (ACHS) – Agribusiness

  • Addison Corbin & Destiny Shinar (ACHS) – Broadcast Journalism

  • Kamron Patel & Kasen Smith (KHS) – Community Service Project

  • Cache King (KHS) – Introduction to Business Presentation

Fourth Place – National Qualifiers

State Finalists

Leadership & Special Recognitions

Beyond their competitive success, students from the Alcorn School District were recognized for their leadership and contributions to FBLA at the state level:

  • Gracey Viola (ACHS) was named Most Outstanding Student by the FBLA Professional Division.

  • Julia Davis (ACHS) and Alexandria Houston (KHS) received the FBLA Who’s Who award, recognizing their exceptional dedication to the organization.

  • Kate McCormack (KHS) and Emma Crabb (KHS) concluded their terms as Northern District Vice President and State Secretary, respectively, after serving as strong advocates for their peers and representing their schools with distinction.

  • State Officers Luke Baswell (ACHS) and Alice Brose (ACHS) also completed their leadership terms, leaving behind a legacy of service and excellence.
