Every classroom in ASD has asked students to work together to create a social contract. These Social Contracts are a standard for what the students want to hold themselves accountable to in their rooms and at their schools. Each class also selects a student ambassador, such as Amour in Mrs Katie’s KES Pre-K class, to greet visitors and invite them to sign their social contract. This process teaches responsibility and leadership skills, plus is an awesome way to help any classroom guests feel welcomed!

Daniel Jackson Phillips and Tatton Waldon will be representing Alcorn County and the Kossuth Band by competing in the Lions Club International virtual convention. They will also enjoy a trip to Florida where they will visit Disney World and Universal Studios this summer.
Since 1950, the Mississippi Lions All-State Band has competed in International competitions around the globe. They have been named International Champions since 2003 with the exception of the two years in which they did not attend. This year, the band will not travel to Canada due to safety concerns.
The Mississippi All-State Band is comprised of the best high school musicians in the state. There is a two-step process for being selected. The students must try out and receive a call back, then tryout again to have a chance to be selected for the band. This makes the second year the Phillips and Waldon have achieved this honor. The band is under the direction of Jeff Cannon and assistant Mickey Mangum.

Congratulations to the Kossuth Aggie Band, who performed in the Mississippi State Evaluations for Concert Band on March 3 at Oxford High School.
The band performed their selections "Danse Carnivale" by Randall Standridge and "Counterbalance" by Todd Stalter to the judges. The band scored all superior ratings by all three judges and was only one of two 3A bands in the state to receive all superiors. The bands in Mississippi high schools did not get to compete in state competition during marching season and were also not allowed to compete in the sight-reading portion either.
The Aggie Band was proud to represent our community on the state level and to bring home this honor once again.
