The Alcorn Career and Technology Center (ACTC) recently hosted an exciting tailgate event to celebrate students joining their respective Career and Technical Education (CTE) organizations, including SkillsUSA, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), FFA (Future Farmers of America), and TSA (Technology Student Association). The event provided a festive and engaging atmosphere for students to connect, celebrate their commitment to their organizations, and gear up for upcoming regional competitions.
ACTC’s CTE organizations empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. These organizations align with ACTC’s mission to provide students with opportunities to develop essential personal, workplace, and technical skills grounded in academics. Each program offers students a pathway to showcase their talents, engage in hands-on learning, and compete in events that prepare them for future success.
Throughout the year, members of SkillsUSA, HOSA, FFA, and TSA will sharpen their skills by participating in local, regional, and state competitions judged by industry experts. These competitions are designed to simulate real-world challenges, building students’ confidence and equipping them with the tools they need to excel in their chosen fields.
“CTE organizations like SkillsUSA, HOSA, FFA, and TSA offer students incredible opportunities,” said Sarah Harris, ACTC Student Services Coordinator. “They not only develop technical skills but also foster leadership, teamwork, and a sense of community, which are invaluable in both their careers and personal lives.”
The tailgate event was the perfect way to kick off a year of learning, competition, and growth for ACTC students. It highlighted ACTC’s dedication to providing students with real-world experiences and professional opportunities while fostering a supportive and celebratory environment.
As students embark on their journeys with SkillsUSA, HOSA, FFA, and TSA, the event served as a reminder of the limitless possibilities that come with hard work, collaboration, and the right guidance. With ACTC’s continued support, these future leaders and innovators are well on their way to success.
