Corinth, MS — Students in Mrs. Smith's College and Career Readiness classes recently traded textbooks for leashes, mops, and pet toys as they spent the day volunteering at the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter. The field trip was part of an ongoing community service project, where students engaged in meaningful work, helping to improve the lives of shelter animals while connecting with their peers.
During the visit, students eagerly rolled up their sleeves to assist with various tasks, including walking dogs, cleaning facilities, and organizing supplies. Some students took time to socialize with cats, providing them with much-needed attention and playtime. The experience allowed them to witness firsthand the daily operations at the shelter and appreciate the hard work it takes to keep the animals comfortable and safe.
"The students were amazing today," said a Mrs. Smith. "Their willingness to jump in and help out made a real difference, and the animals enjoyed all the extra attention."
For the students, the day was more than just a chance to fulfill a class assignment; it was an opportunity to give back to their community and interact with classmates in a unique, rewarding way. Surrounded by wagging tails and purring cats, students found joy in the small but impactful tasks, learning that even simple acts of service can make a big difference.
The Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter is always in need of support, whether through adoption, donations, or volunteer time. Anyone interested in making a difference for these loving animals is encouraged to reach out to the shelter for more information.
