No One Should Be Alone on Christmas: Living Free Ministries Hosts 13th Annual Crossroads Christmas @ Alcorn Central High School
For more than a decade, Living Free Ministries has embraced the idea that no one should be alone on Christmas. Since its inception in 2012, this belief has been the driving force behind Crossroads Christmas, a special holiday meal and celebration.
This year, the event returns for its 13th annual gathering, taking place at the Alcorn Central High School cafeteria on Christmas Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“It’s for anybody that’s alone on Christmas. Come join us. You don’t have to be alone on Christmas Day,” shared Marea Wilson with Living Free Ministries.
- A Day of Fellowship and Fun
The celebration is open to everyone. Guests can dine in, take meals to go, and enjoy holiday-themed activities such as Christmas movies and games.
- Opportunities to Give Back
Volunteers play a vital role in making the day a success. According to Tommy Wilson, founder of Living Free Ministries, volunteers are needed throughout the day and are welcome to contribute as much or as little time as they can.
In addition to volunteer efforts, donations are crucial. The ministry is seeking:
• Monetary contributions
• Homemade desserts (to be dropped off on Christmas Eve between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Corinth Mattress and Furniture Outlet on US Highway 72, or at the ACHS cafeteria on Christmas morning after 8 a.m.)
To volunteer or donate, contact Marea Wilson at 662-643-7298.
- Meals for the Incarcerated
Crossroads Christmas extends its generosity beyond the cafeteria walls by delivering over 400 meals to inmates at the Alcorn County Jail. Sheriff Ben Caldwell expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a way to share both the love of Christ and the community.
“It means so much to the inmates,” Caldwell said. “It’s a reminder that there are people who love and care about them.”
- A Labor of Love
The event would not be possible without dedicated volunteers like Larry Betts and his brother, Chef Ben Betts, who have been instrumental in preparing countless pans of dressing and other dishes for the celebration.
“It means the world to me,” said Larry Betts. “It’s the best day of the year, getting to give back.”
Whether by attending, volunteering, or donating, Crossroads Christmas is a heartfelt way to ensure that no one feels alone on Christmas Day.
