The local chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America at ACHS recently travelled to Natchez, Mississippi to attend the Mississippi State Leadership Conference. Students in attendance had to earn a qualifying spot at the prior district leadership convention in their subject area event. Students not only competed but enjoyed remarks from the Mayor of Natchez, campaigning events for MS FBLA state officers, a neon inspired dance, sightseeing in the historic city of Natchez, and closing ceremony activities full of awards.
All twelve students that attended and competed placed Top 5 in the state in each of their respective events marking one of the best overall chapter performances in the past decade. Advisers John Mask and Angie Grisham were very thrilled to see all the hard work that was done over the past few months come into action over the trip.
Alcorn Central was proud to nominate Talia Whitley to serve as the Mississippi Northern District Vice-President for the 2022-2023 school year. She was duly nominated and elected by her fellow MS FBLA peers and will serve the state chapter well next year. Aidan Anderson delivered her opening address. You can see the whole address here:
The chapter was also honored to celebrate the dedication to the club by retiring adviser Twila Bridges. She was honored for twenty years of service to Alcorn Central FBLA. She will be sorely missed.
Nine of our twelve students immediately qualified for National Conference that will be held June 29-July 2 in Chicago, Illinois. We will be asking for community support to help sponsor our event. These students have worked so hard to get to this point, and we want to make sure they have plenty of community support to get them the rest of the way there! See the list below of all the winners and their places.
