Alcorn Central Sophomore Laynie Boren spent her Spring Break with our state legislators. Boren had heard of friends and fellow classmates that spent a week in the state's capital with a member of the legislature, and it sparked her attention.
After reaching out to State Representative Bubba Carpenter, Boren scheduled her trip to Jackson with great excitement.
While in the state's capital, Boren was given the opportunity to sit in on legislative sessions and aid in the process of lawmaking. If she wasn't learning how to make a bill a law, she was working with state officials in all the offices of the capitol building. She got to eat lunch with with Rep. Carpenter and discuss the issues that faced our state.
Laynie really enjoyed her time in Jackson and would love to go back one day. This is what the young sophomore had to say about her trip:
"I would like to thank Representative Carpenter for giving me the opportunity to visit the capital. It was a great experience that I will always remember."
We are proud of Miss Laynie Boren. Thank you for representing AC well in our state's capital!
