ACTC Culinary II was honored to be the guest of Chef John Mabry at Vicari. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful, and networking with professionals in the industry is priceless for the students in the Alcorn School District.
Last week, Culinary Arts II students enjoyed a visit to Soco Grind for coffee and treats. Special thank you to Instructor, Mrs. Tara Lauderdale for creating opportunities for her students to experience all aspects of culinary arts! Learning is FUN at ACTC!
Last week Ed Prep Students shared the day with some special friends from ASD. Instructor, Nan Nethery, says that assisting with the Special Olympics is a highlight of their year! Students finished off their fun day with lunch at Danvers and Crumbl Cookie. Special thank you to Mrs. Nan Nethery for creating opportunities for these future educators and for Tupelo High School for hosting.

ACTC loved kicking off our week welcoming KHS 9th Grade Students to tour the center! Each student's tour was personalized based on their choices and interests allowing them to become familiar with our programs that interest them. We had a great time, and look forward to welcoming KHS students in the Fall!
BMF Students had a fun day of learning outside the classroom, yesterday! First stop, the students visited the Alliance where Karen Isbell & Alliance President, GT McCullough shared an overview of the Alliance and the importance it has for businesses, industries, and the community of Corinth. Next, students visited the Corinth Coke Museum where they enjoyed Coke floats and listened to the interesting history of the Corinth Coca-Cola plant Mr. Kenneth Williams. Then, students were placed in groups where they explored downtown Corinth businesses, interviewed entrepreneurs and business owners, and completed a scavenger hunt. They ended their industry visit with lunch, ice cream, and coffee in the Soco District. Special thank you to Career Coach, Rebecca Lewis and Mrs. Mincey for their hard work to organize this fun and special day!

Collaboration at ACTC! After lessons on different cuts of beef, Ag Natural Students were able to take it to the next level! Students were able to learn about food prep & food safety. Their new skills were put to the test as we were able to help prepare for an upcoming community event. Shoutout to Culinary Arts Instructor, Mrs. Tara Lauderdale for assisting, giving her expertise, and allowing us to use some of her kitchen space.
ACTC and ASD FFA Students are doing big things this week! They attended the FFA Legislative Luncheon. "They heard from Commissioner of Ag Andy Gipson, Speaker of the House Jason White and Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann. Students also heard from the Peterson Farm Brothers and we’re challenge by the State FFA Officers. Members enjoyed visiting with Representative Bubba Carpenter, Representative Brad Mattox, and Senator Rita Potts Parks. They got to wrap up their day with a trip to Bass Pro."

Special thank you to, Officer Barry and Officer Bobo with Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fishers and Parks for spending the day with our Law and Public Safety Class last week! Students were able to ask questions and learn about different career opportunities within their field!

Ed Prep I students are learning all about the educational theorists. Recently they created their own theorists and completed research to share with the class. Adding creativity and fun to the ACTC hallways!
