Kossuth High School is proud to announce their class of 2020 Salutatorian, Miss Callie Loncar. Callie is the eighteen-year-old daughter of Josh and Carrie Loncar and the older sister of Anna and Addison Loncar. She has earned the position of Salutatorian and is set to graduate with honors in May.
Throughout high school, Callie has been very successful in her academics and extracurricular activities. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA, is ranked second in her class, and has a 27 on her ACT. Callie has been a part of numerous clubs and associations such as the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, FCA, Math and Science Club, FBLA, and SGA where she has held many leadership positions. Since the 10th grade, she has served as KHS Spanish Club President and a KHS FCA Officer. In addition, Callie has attained many awards and honors. Her sophomore year, she and her team placed first at the state conference in Introduction to Business Presentation and then competed on the National Level in Baltimore, Maryland. Callie has also had the privilege to be a part of the mentoring program for two years now. In February 2020, she was recognized as Rotary Student of the Month.
Outside of school, Callie stays quite busy. In the 10th grade, she participated in Junior Leadership Alcorn where she had the opportunity to host a community project at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club in Corinth. Additionally, she attends Wheeler Grove Baptist Church where she is very active in the youth group. She has had the opportunity to teach Vacation Bible School, assist in their basketball ministry, help at several Trunk or Treats, and has been a member of both youth and adult choirs. Alongside helping others, Callie has a strong passion for music. She has been taking piano lessons for nine years. Furthermore, she also plays guitar and ukulele and loves to sing.
For two years, Callie has been dual-enrolled with Northeast Mississippi Community College and is currently working on finishing her 20 hours of college credit. This fall, she will be attending the University of North Alabama where she has also been accepted into the Honors College. There, she plans to attain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing while minoring in Spanish. After college, she plans to pursue a career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Above all, she says that none of this would be possible without God because He is the one who has given her the love of learning and the ability to comprehend. Callie would like to especially thank Kossuth High School, all of the staff, administration, and her teachers, for always believing in her and pushing her to her fullest ability. In conclusion, she wants to congratulate her fellow classmates on all of their hard work and accomplishments!
Congratulations, Callie! You've made KHS very proud! We wish you all the blessings in your future!
